Private (Privately Funded) Scholarship Announcements



Below are some privately funded scholarships which require separate applications. The information below contains description of eligibility requirements, application deadlines, and, if available, links to the specific application or more information about the scholarship.
                                 
The HubShout Online Marketing Scholarship is designed to help students who are on the path to a business or marketing career that will involve online marketing. Students who have completed at least one year of post-secondary education and have at least a 3.0 GPA are invited to apply.
Amount:Two $1,000 scholarships
Application Period: March 30 and November 2013
(2013 awards will be announced on April 15 and November 15)
MortgageRefinanceRates.org is offering a scholarship opportunity to students who are currently enrolled in an engineering, construction or architecture field. Interested and qualified applicants are invited to apply.
Criteria:
  1. Applicant shall be at least 17 years of age or older and be accepted to or attending a full-time engineering, construction, or architecture program at an accredited institution of learning.
  2. Applicant must be attending the program within an accredited institution within the United States.
  3. Applicant must be either a citizen of the United States or a foreign student with a valid United States Student Visa.
  4. Applicant must have a minimum GPA of 3.0, based on the previous year's academic performance.
Deadline: June 15, 2013.
The Freedom Alliance Scholarship Fund honors Americans in our Armed Forces who have sacrificed life or limb defending our country by providing educational scholarships to their children.
Eligibility:The student must be a full-time, undergraduate student for the upcoming academic year, under the age of 26, and the dependent son or daughter of a U.S. service member who, as a result of an operational mission or training accident, has become permanently disabled (100% VA disability rating), killed in actions, or classified as a Prisoner of War (POW) or Missing in Actions (MIA).
Criteria:
  1. Reside in the U.S. as a U.S. citizen or permanent resident.
  2. Full time enrollment in an accredited 4-year undergraduate institution.
  3. Have a minimum GPA of 3.5 (on a 4.0 scale) in your major, and a 3.0 overall.
  4. Show a commitment to pursuing a career in direct/interactive marketing (i.e. applicants should have taken two or more courses focused on: direct marketing, interactive marketing, email marketing, electronic marketing, mobile marketing, social marketing, business to business marketing, not for profit marketing, database marketing, customer relationship marketing or integrated marketing communications). Students with internships focused in these areas will also be considered.
  5. Demonstrate leadership ability.
  6. Be involved in extracurricular and/or community service activities.
The Long Taylor Foundation awards 2-3 scholarships annually to Graduate Students, primarily, at Purdue University. Major study areas for consideration are Sociology, Family & Consumer Sciences, and possibly related fields. Awards will have a general maximum of $10,000 per year, pro-rated per term, and will be renewable upon maintenance of academic standards. Eligibility requirements include enrollment or acceptance in a graduate program, full-time study, a minimum 3.3 GPA, community service, goals, and financial need etc. Awards can begin for any term. Created in 2006 as part of a bequest from the estate of Elsie Goken. Proceeds will help fund college scholarships for those who wish to continue their education or return to school to better provide for themselves and their families. Applicants must have graduated from an accredited Indiana high school and have a GED, be a resident of Tippecanoe County or attending high school in Tippecanoe County, and be enrolled or plan to be enrolled full-time in an accredited college or university. Preference is given to those who are non-traditional students attending smaller Christian colleges or universities.
Created in 2007 by Joan Anne Hughes in memory of her parents. Proceeds from the Hughes Fund will help fund college scholarships to earn a baccalaureate degree in Nursing for those with financial need who live or work in Tippecanoe County, Indiana.
Created in 1998 by Lilly Endowment Inc. to help raise the level of educational attainment in Indiana. Provides recipients with full tuition and fees for four years of undergraduate education at any public or private accredited Indiana college or university, and up to $800 per year for required books and equipment. Both non-traditional students and high school seniors who live in or attend school in Tippecanoe County are eligible.
These awards are given to enable students in the community to complete a degree in higher education. With the generosity of donors these scholarships are renewable. Partial awards and full ride scholarships are provided through the foundation.
This is for veterans returning from Iraq and Afghanistan starting in the spring 2008 term. The awards, which may be renewed for following academic year, are intended to cover financial need not met by need-based grants and military education benefits.
This scholarship is for African American, American Indian/Alaska Natives, Asian Pacific Islander Americans, and Hispanic American undergraduate students in all disciplines and graduate students studying mathematics, science, engineering, education, or library science.
This scholarship supports undergraduates with high financial need who plan to study abroad. Students are encouraged to choose non-traditional study abroad destinations such as Africa, Asia, Eastern Europe or Latin America. To be eligible for this scholarship, students must be receiving a Federal Pell Grant at the time of application.

This exemption provides a 50% tuition exemption for those retired, not employed on a full-time basis, and at least sixty years old who desire to take any open courses at Purdue University.
This program, managed by Scholarship Management Services, awards up to $2.85 million in renewable scholarships to students demonstrating financial need. This $1,500 scholarship is a need-based scholarship available to high school seniors, currently enrolled college students or incoming college students whose household annual income is less than $35,000.
